First Ram for the construction of the new Production Plant at NSW

12/20/2007

In addition to the award of the first project in the new business segment power cables NSW proudly witnesses on December 20, 2007 the first ram for the construction of the new 7.000 m² production plant and the deeply grounded open space of 4.000 m². For this purpose 460 stakes with a length of 25 m will be rammed in to the earth until March 2008. To reduce the noise for employees and neighbors to a minimum, NSW decided to use a muted but also more expensive ramming procedure.

In the new hall two production lines for stranding and armoring will be set up. These machines are the world’s largest of their type. On the open space three turntables with a total weight of up to 4.000 tons are used for the temporary storage of the cables. The cables produced at the new facilities have a diameter of up to 280 mm and a weight of up to 200 kg per meter. In the usual NSW-tradition they will be shipped over its own pier at the river Weser.

With the creation of over 100 new jobs NSW’s new business segment power cables will assure the location Nordenham also on the long run. Moreover, the traffic to the construction site is lead over the newly built way over the Flagbalgerstraße so that the traffic volume in the city will be reduced considerably. In addition, NSW is planning together with the logistics provider ATEGE the establishment of a logistics centre with connection to the Flagbalgerstrasse.

NSW prefers regional companies for the work at the new production plant. The planning is already done by the architecture office Damken.
